Jesus is my Roomie.
Yup, I have a roommate Kristen. She's valuable and incredible to my heart.
And I have neighbors that live upstairs - cherished neighbors that I adore!
Jesus is my Roomie.
Roommate:: To Take up Residence with
Reside:: To Sit or Settle with
In a year of UNHINDERED ABIDING (a phrase and heart-cry that I discovered at the beginning of 2011 and my Encounter counseling/training), it's incredible to have the wink of Jesus as Roommate. Because, He is also where I abide and where I dwell.
Abide:: to exist, to continue, To rest, dwell,
Dwell:: to abide as a permanent resident, to live in a place, to continue
John 15:4-11
"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. When I consider abiding, dwelling, and residing with Jesus, the loneliness or hurts-of-curiosity subside. When I remember, through renewing my mind, that I am in Christ and Christ is in me; the sting diffuses.
My mind wandered from this miracle unto another one: Jesus pursues living with me. Jesus pursues me to sit, to stay, to dwell, and abide. He wants to. This is a miracle, there are many times where the flesh of life is frustrating and I don't want to live with me. :) But that Jesus does and is completely good with me as I am? Miracle. Glory.
In a year where God has proven to be a Redeemer, a Counselor, an Advocate, and THE Source; I also abide in Him as Friend. Jesus is my Roomie.
