a word from eliphaz

Job 22:21-28 (ESV)

 ²¹ “Agree with God, and be at peace; 

To Agree:: to be of one mind, to harmonize in opinion (N. Webster)

This is a statement - expressing the significance in putting aside our own flesh and return to unity with the Lord. Give up the covering of stubbornness, or control, or anger or pride. No. Agree with God, just "give it a rest" and agree with God. 

What is agreeing with God actually about here: Trusting God....an active trust

What happens when you agree with God, when you trust God? Peace!
   thereby good will come to you. 

What consequence will you find? Good will come to you
²² Receive instruction from his mouth, 

Receive teaching/wisdom/instruction from the Source!

You can't take it - because taking it is even more active than receiving. You just have to sit still, rest, and receive! Let it come to you, Let Him come to You.
   and lay up his words in your heart. 

Store the words and wisdom in your heart, a core and fundamental part of yourself - store the wisdom as a treasure.
²³ If you return to the Almighty you will be built up; 

IF ... THEN...
   if you remove injustice far from your tents,
²⁴ if you lay gold in the dust,
   and gold of Ophir among the stones of the torrent-bed, 

If you set aside the gold as worthless...

Give up what is perhaps valuable to you, that you might exchange it for something greater.
²⁵ then the Almighty will be your gold
   and your precious silver. 

The Lord will be Your Treasure. Golds and silvers are nothing compared to Him.

Is there something you value more?
²⁶ For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty 

and lift up your face to God. 

When you receive Him, when you agree with him, when you return to Him; you will be delighted and giddy to have The Almighty One near. 

Delight :: a high degree of pleasure (N. Webster)

And you will get some eye contact (just like the women @ the Well - John 4 & the woman caught in the act of adultery - John 8)

The Almighty one is BOTH Sovereign and Intimate. We can know his might, but also know the gaze of his eyes. 
²⁷ You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you,
   and you will pay your vows. 

WILL - this is a promise. It's written as a fact, and a covenant word that will happen. He will hear our prayers.
²⁸ You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you,
   and light will shine on your ways. 

Prayer comes before decision! 

We will pray to the Lord, He will hear us. 

Decisions will be made and the ways WILL (promise again!) be laid out for us.

Established :: firmly laid, fixed, ordained (N. Webster). 

The paths will be set before us - and light will illuminate each step and way. 

AH! I love it - LIGHT is the covering. And who is in the light? (1 John 1:7). The path will be set out (Prov 3:5-6) and See: 

Isaiah 58:8 (ESV) :: "Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard"

So, do you agree with God? 

What are you hanging onto instead? Is it of more value to you than the Lord?

Do you spend time in prayer prior to a decision, that you might give your words to the One who hears you?

Just askin' ... You and God can work it out together. I entrust you to Him, much like I am learning more and more to trust all of myself to Him.
