A young boy is obsessed with a "Reconnaisance Expedition" that his dad created before his passing, and in order to remain close with him, the boy is unwaivered in completing the mission. This young boy is hurting and curious and finds distance from his mom, while he ultimately grows closer to his dad. Until this moment of awakening:: Mom found out his plan and confronts him on it, with love and poise.
"You were spying on Me?" he asks ripe with tears and frustration!
"No, son, I was searching for you." she replies with a weepy smile and maternal love.
He falls into her arms and they embrace talking about dad.
What this moment reminded me of is the pursuit of God, but even more specifically I began thinking about the Prodigal Son in Luke 15.
The son, in his own Reconaissance Expedition sets out with an inheritance (given BEFORE the death of his own father) to spoil away his own life as he pleased. While he was spending his life away on things that weren't edifying, I imagine his father was searching for him. It took the son awhile to realize he had squandered his money and his time and his young years, nevertheless, he decided to return home and plead with his father to bring an end to the expedition by allowing him to serve and sleep with the pigs.
Luke 15:18-24
"I will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight; 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hired men.”’ 20 So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 But the father said to his slaves, ‘Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; 23 and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; 24 for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to celebrate.
"Son, I was searching for you."
"Daughter, I was pursuing you the whole time."
"Son, I see you."
"Daughter, You are my beloved."
"Son, I love you."
"Daughter, I love you."
"Son, I cherish you."
"Daughter, I value you."
"Son, You WERE made WELL."
"Daughter, oh Daughter, You WERE made WELL."
A grace explosion is all over YOU, my Friend. You are the beloved.
