"I tell you the truth"

i am reading through the gospel of john, spending time getting to know my jesus - the savior, the grace giver...not just know about him...

"i tell you the truth"

jesus has said these words over and over again in the first few chapters of this account.

i love it.

jesus tells the truth.

so...what does he tell the truth about?

his ascension (john 1:51)

new birth and baptism (john 3:3,5)

position - education and wealth don't equate to justification (john 3:7)

i am noticing that he captures truth and what is not.

jesus tells the truth.

"truthful worshippers" (john 4:22)

"The Liberating King speaks to you." (john 4:26)

i love that jesus' name can also be translated as: Liberating King.

what other truth is tucked into jesus' life and ministry?

ha - where to begin?

he is the living water (john 4)

he prayed away his own will to exchange it for his father's (luke 22)

he is the same yesterday today and forever (hebrews 13:8)

he is the way and the truth (john 14)

nothing - not even disobedience - nothing can separate us from him (romans 8:38-39)

he has given us an anointing (1 john 2:27)

he is in us - the hope of glory (colossians 1:27)

his word is sharp and active (hebrews 4)

his grace is upon our hearts (hebrews 10)

he is faithful - he cannot deny himself (2 timothy 2:13)

we can approach the throne of grace (hebrews 4:16)

jesus tells the truth.

i like that. i receive that.
