you are not nothing!

Matthew 17:1-9

The Transfiguration

“Six days later Jesus *took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and *led them up on a high mountain by themselves.

And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him [Relationship becomes obvious with Moses and Elijah and Jesus]. Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them [Shekinah Glory], and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “ This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” [The Father didn’t highlight following Jesus, doing as He did, mimicking Him…but Listening to The Son]

When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified. And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and do not be afraid.”

And lifting up their eyes, [they made eye contact with the Lord] they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone. As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.”

The other day I was sitting in a class, a further learning & further community with my Grace Ministries clan, and we were talking about Light and it’s impact on our identity.

The Light of the World lives within His children. I repeat it again, Light lives within Us.

And I invite you to consider this: what would happen if we saw ourselves as God sees us (which is an authentic definition of humility), and lived out of who we are? In class the other night, it was suggested that we would fall face down with terror at ourselves, the creation of the Lord, the Light within us, Who we really are.

We are not nothing.

I am not nothing.

You are not nothing.

You are Light, a miraculous reflection of the Creative Creator. You are the One whom He touched and encouraged to not be afraid. You are one with whom the Lord desires to make eye contact. This is the same Sovereign Lord that created Light and Dark, separated darkness from Light, and allows us to see Light in His Light (Psalm 36:9).

Oh, how miraculous, the Lord is Light…bright, vibrant, warm, exposing, revealing, illuminating, vulnerable, wholesome, freeing, engaging, encouraging, playful…

Light lives within us. We are not nothing.

Psalm 36:8-10

“They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house;

And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life;

In Your light we see light. O continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.”
